WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
My name is Joanna Rose Hazel
WHERE ARE YOUR PARENTS FROM?
Both of my parents are from Ghana but my mum is also from Sierra Leone.
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU HAVE?
I have three beautiful kids. Two boys and one girl
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED?
I'll be married four years in November 2018. I can't believe how quickly time has flown but that said it feels I've been married a lot longer! In a good way of course!
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
My favourite designers are Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney, and Zac Posen. He is a legend! I also love Amanda Wakeley. It's a shame I can't afford to buy their clothes yet but they're all amazing and I love the fact their collections are always elegant and easy to wear. I almost forgot Alexander McQueen! Such a talented individual, I remember going to his exhibition in the V&A showcasing all his work, and my slot was at 4 am. The exhibition was so popular it was open 24 hours a day!
TOP HIGH STREET STORE AND WHY?
Oh my gosh. My ultimate favourite high street store is and will always be Zara. Shoes, bags, clothes you name it, they're always on trend and the turnaround of new trends is just crazy! I love how they take inspiration from the catwalk but their products still look and feel high end. I also love the exclusivity of their products. Once it's gone it's gone but with all that said it's so affordable. You can't get much better than that!
WHAT IS THE LAST ITEM OF CLOTHING YOU BOUGHT?
Honestly, I don't buy as many clothes as I used to because my focus has been on making sure I'm eating healthy, organic foods which are in itself bloody expensive! Not much room to do shopping as well but when my income changes I'll definitely be making a beeline for the shops!
WHAT'S YOUR ABSOLUTE GO TO ITEM IN WARDROBE?
Ahh, this has to be my ASOS oversized coat because it's so versatile. I can literally wear it with anything and it looks good no matter what I team it up with. Everybody needs a coat like this!
HEELS OR FLATS?
Oh gosh! I'm definitely a heels girl. Every opportunity to wear a heel they'll be on my feet and I have so many and yet so few. I like flats I guess but I buy them and get bored of them so quickly!
IF YOU COULD WORK FOR ANY COMPANY WHO WOULD IT BE?
Definitely Victoria Beckham or Amanda Wakeley. I truly believe that if you're passionate about a particular brand and you get to work for them, it doesn't feel like work. It's like you're a part of the fabric of every garment which is such an amazing feeling. To work for either of these two brands would be a dream. Brands aside, I would like to work for a company that is going places. It doesn't have to be a big name but I've worked in a few places and the things that matter most to me are working as part of a good team of people, being challenged in my role and working in an atmosphere that inspires me to do better not only at work bu in my personal goals and aspirations
IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO SLEEP WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THE EXTRA TIME?
HAHA! When I saw this I thought this is such a good question. In all honesty, I think I would still sleep. At the moment, having a one-year-old and a three-month-old is tiring as hell and I feel like although I have so many plans and ideas I want to see come to fruition, getting that well-needed rest is just as important. Says me, typing this at 2.28am! This is exactly the reason why! LOL
WHAT WOULD YOUR IDEAL ROOM LOOK LIKE?
My ideal room would be similar to what my room looks like now, just with A LOT more space! It would be all white with accents of green and pink, by the way of plants and rose gold accessories. I would have an open wardrobe as I do now but I would also have a proper desk for my MAC and stationery, a book corner for all my books and a beautiful chair! I can't wait to create it. I'll definitely keep it blogged so you can see when I put it together
DO YOU HAVE A CLAIM TO FAME?
I DO! When I was getting married I designed my own wedding dress and had it made by a very talented seamstress called 'Auntie Millie'. One of the girls participating on 'Don't Tell the Bride' that year saw my dress circulating all over Instagram and traced it back to her. In the end, she asked if she would make a dress similar to mine and they showed a clip of her looking at it in the programme. A Proud moment is an understatement! My little boy was chuffed as well because he was in the picture too!
Not only that but I also featured in an online ad campaign for Aptamil encouraging pregnant women to stay active. If you haven't seen it pop up in between youtube videos already you can watch it here
WHO HAS IMPRESSED YOU WITH WHAT THEY'VE ACCOMPLISHED?
This is such a hard question because I can think of and name sooo many people but I'll narrow it down to people who are on similar journeys to me, just further ahead!
I love Freddie Harrel and Patricia Bright because not only are they bloggers but they are fully fledged mothers and businesswomen. To be fair, they were already well established by the time their babies came but I think the most admirable thing is that becoming mothers hasn't slowed them down. They're an inspiration to me trying to make a mark in the blogosphere as well as establishing my own business. It gets overwhelming at times but seeing them get on with it keeps me going. Not to mention the fact that they are black. Even if no one wants to admit it, I feel it's so much harder establishing yourself as a black female in any area and both of them have totally smashed it.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN FIVE YEARS?
Quite easily, I'm hoping that in five years time I have a voice and a clear footprint in the blogosphere. Not only that, but I would be over the moon to see my business launched and thriving! One of my ultimate goals is to be able to choose where I want to live and call it home, as well as being able to afford it! I know it's not going to be easy but I'm so willing to put the work in.
